According to their official announcement, they feel that Facebook users would love watching more live videos than compared with the ones that are no longer live. They also added “More and more people are now-a-days watching live videos in Facebook, also we are considering them as a new content type in Facebook because they are different from normal videos. At first we are making a small update to news feed so that Facebook live videos are more likely to appear in News feed. So we are adjusting our algorithm in such a way that more live videos are going to attract our users.
Facebook also stated that these changes will not cause any change in Facebook page setting and they remain unchanged. With this live video feature added in Facebook, the other live video stream applications like Meerkat and Periscope are getting some less response these days, also these services also provide the same type of functions and viewers can react to the live videos with their instant comments.
