After a year with lots of cases in which privacy was compromised and a time in which our data protection has become one of the main objectives of a few companies. we can not fail to compile some of the extensions that will help you hold off these kinds of offenses. So here i present you with list of 6 extensions that will help you maintain your privacy online.
One of my favorites, Privacy Badger is a service of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) that blocks ads and third party trackers to prevent invasions without consent. The extension, in addition to the list of blocked elements of monitoring, including a classification of them into categories-and dyed, depending on its severity and can be disabled for specific pages. It is available for Chrome and Firefox.”We would also create an incentive for companies to do the right advertising”, say its developers.
In addition to the usual lock systems, Blur dares to go further and is able to maintain anonymity and mask the credit card you use for your purchases on the Internet, your email address and password. It also integrates a self completed very comfortable-to forget that not a problem- and safely synchronized with other devices. You can also make a backup. Of course, this tool has a premium version that must hire if you want to use all of its possibilities.
Disconnect the other hand, it focuses on social networks and generally avoids tracking websites and services. According to its creators, it can stop tracking over 2000 websites and increase the speed at which pages load up to 27%. Like its predecessors in this list, you can view and block services that keep track of your searches. The best thing about this is, it is open source and therefore, is in a process of constant evolution.
Designed “to take control of your digital experience,” Ghostery vein tracking cookiend scripts teaches you what is blocking -for it to your judgment-steps. It also includes a link where you will find more information on the monitoring in question in case you are curious. It supports Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer and Opera.
HTTPS Everywhere is another projecct of the people of the EFF and the Tor Project. HTTPS Everywhere is a Firefox, Chrome, and Opera extension that encrypts your communications with many major websites, making your browsing more secure. Open Source, in addition to the usual functions, it allows to include concrete block list websites. Many sites on the web offer some limited support for encryption over HTTPS, but make it difficult to use. The HTTPS Everywhere extension fixes these problems by using clever technology to rewrite requests to these sites to HTTPS. In fact, it is able to rewrite them automatically. You’ll find for Chrome, Firefox and Opera.
Europe’s award winner for Best Security / Privacy Startup last year, ZenMate Security, Privacy & Unblock VPN allows you to encrypt and secure all traffic from the browser and is presented “as a proxy but much safer” which gives you the ability to hide your IP and change your location. It also improves the speed and experience on the web (free and unlimited).
It is very easy to use but, according to its developers caution, the service does not work in certain places such as China, Iran and Saudi Arabia, with tight control of the network.
Hope you find this compilation of 6 extensions that will help you maintain your privacy online informative and useful. Well i am sure there might be few other cool extensions i might have missed so feel free to comment and let us know.
